Before the idea,we look at the person.
Who Antler Korea backs, how we decide, and the kinds of teams we don't fund — all in the open.
Who We Back
Four Founder Archetypes
You may not fit cleanly into one of these. That's fine — what matters most is the problem you want to solve and how close you are to it.
Domain Operator
Operators with deep industry experience who know exactly where the market hurts.
5+ yrs in domain · Clear problem articulation · Early customer access
Technical Builder
Engineers, designers, or data scientists who can ship product without help.
Working prototypes · Fast learning loops · Builder drive
Serial Founder
Founders with at least one prior venture — win, loss, or learnings, ready to build the next one better.
Sharp retro on last venture · Bigger ambition · Proven leadership
Senior Operator
Executives or team leads from Samsung, Naver, Kakao, Toss who have actually shipped 0→1 or 1→10.
In-house building track record · Full-time commitment · Strong references
How We Decide
Five Things Our IC Evaluates
These five categories are what the IC actually debates. When we say no, the reason almost always falls into one of them.
Founder
Grit, self-awareness, learning speed. How they deal with failure. We invest in people — patterns over time, not first impressions.
Problem
Is it a problem the market actually feels? Is it sharply defined? Will it still matter in a year? We look at the problem before the solution.
Execution
What did you ship in the last two weeks? How will you validate in your first six? We weight recent action over future plans.
Team Dynamics
Complementary skills, trust, aligned vision. We favor synergistic diversity over same-domain echo chambers.
Capital Efficiency
What can you prove with $110K? Every round should earn the next one.
Plainly
Teams We Don't Fund
The only thing worse than rejection is not knowing why. Saving everyone's time, here's the honest list.
Founders whose goal is the round itself. We buy grit, not the ability to raise.
Teams who believe their tech is ahead of the market. The most sophisticated solution often targets the smallest market.
Plans that start with consulting or services rather than product. Good businesses — wrong fit for venture capital.
Solo founders who won't go full-time without a co-founder. (Inception offers matching; the other tracks won't.)
Homogeneous teams from the same domain, school, and mindset. Without complementarity, it becomes a one-person company.
